Paralyzed with Fear

I have a strange, unrelentless, incredibly strong fear of marriage.

I am 31 years old, I've never been married.

I have been proposed to by 4 people in my life.

I said no 3 times.

I am getting married in 3 months.

I woke up crying this morning about it.

I'm petrified.

I think it's perfectly normal. You've been through a lot. It crystal clear, beyond obvious that you and Rick have a very special, amazing love. You'll be okay, I promise. And if you're still nervous, just get really drunk before the ceremony, just don't spit on your cake. I love you girly! Every little thing is gonna be alright!

I never really cared about getting married... I was engaged twice, married (still)once... I would have been just as happy not making it official...it was official enough in my head.... getting married didn't make me feel any different...

Getting drunk before the ceremony sounds like a good plan...

I know we don't know each other, so that is probably why this comment will be easier to make...I'm not gonna lie to you...Marriage is hard, but it can be the most rewarding thing in your life...you have to continually work at it, but it is totally worth it...I have married for almost 14 years and I am married to my best friend...but I have to admit, there have periods in the last 14 years, where he was also my worst enemy. Keeping God in the middle of your relationship is the only way to have a happy, healthy marriage.

Good luck! I can't wait to hear wedding stories.

What about it scares you? I afraid because I don't know anyone who has ever been married and stayed that way. I only want to get married once and I'm worried that I won't be able to do it.
I wish I had some words of wisdom for you but I can only tell you what I know from your blog. There isn't anything in marriage that you can't hadle based on what you all have been through already.

Getting married is scary business. But there are scarier things . . . yeah, I know there are. Does this make you feel better? How about going off to Iraq instead of getting married? Yeah, getting married seems to be okay, after all.

Everyone is entitled to their fears whether anyone else sees them as rational or not. A fear is certainly rational to the person feeling it. Because something else is more scary does not make the initial fear either less or unjustified.
